Smartphones receiving an emergency alert message issued by the Department of Telecommunication in order to assess the nationwide implementation of the Pan-India Emergency Alert System, overseen by the National Disaster Management Authority. This system enables the government to transmit urgent and time-critical messages related to disaster management to all mobile devices located within a specified geographical region. Cell Broadcast is commonly used to deliver emergency alerts, such as severe weather warnings like tsunami, flash floods, earthquakes, and more.
To cease receiving the test alerts on your Android phone, navigate to the settings, and search for “Emergency Alert.” Then, disable the “Test alerts” option. It is advisable to refrain from disabling other alerts, as doing so ensures that you continue to receive notifications from the Department of Telecommunication regarding any emergency situations that may arise.
