  1. Thank you. I have metered data, so opening with a blank page is helpful. But, after I followed your instructions, Edge opened with a row of top sites, then “my news feeds” displayed (on the rest of the page). I had to click “hide my news feeds” and also “customize” (above the row of top sites) and choose the “blank” option. I’ve bookmarked your site and will explore it. Thank you again. 🙂

  2. Worked like a charm. Thanks; it was really really bugging me.

it appears this instruction is now out of date. The Open With is different now.

  4. In order to get a truly blank starting page, do this. At “Settings\Open Microsoft Edge with”, choose “A specific page or pages” from the dropdown. In the “Enter a URL” box type “about:blank” (without the quotes, no spaces around the colon). Users of Internet Explorer will be familiar with this, it was always the way to make IExplore open with a blank page. Then, click the little floppy disk icon to the right of the box to save it. If you don’t remember floppy disks, it’s an icon of a little square thing. Then when you close Edge and restart it, you should see a truly blank page, no cookies, newsfeeds or any other unwanted baggage.

For good measure you can also choose to “Open new tabs with” a blank page as described above.

    Hope this helps!

    1. Thank you Dakmus! It’s 2020 and your method still works like a charm! I just setup a new PC and have been trying to get a true about:blank for a few days now, I came close but now, thanks to your post, I finally have it fixed! I didn’t think it was going to work, I followed your instructions and it didn’t work, then, I finished following your instructions, closed the browser, opened it and walla, about:blank, thank you, thank you, thank you!

    Thank you, Dakmus!

I was really getting annoyed at all this junk news Edge kept feeding me when all I wanted was a nice clean slate.

    Cheers

No longer works in 2019. Microsoft has changed the settings panel and removed the option.

  7. not working anymore.

  8. This “Blank Page” is not available anymore in 2022.
    As Dakmus said,
    about:blank
    will do the trick.

  9. I have a password for my bank for Edge. Bing browser comes on but does not take the same password. Is this correct. ?
